2025 – Cassidy Clan Rally Report

Attendees of the 2025 Cassidy Clan Rally on Devenish Island.

Our Venue

The host hotel for the Cassidy Clan Rally was the beautiful Killyhevlin Lakeside Hotel and Resort, situated to the immediate south of the center of Enniskillen and along Lough (River) Erne.

The rally commenced with our general meeting in the afternoon of Friday 4th of July followed by a “Meet the Cousins” reception with music in the evening.

On both Saturday and Sunday mornings we had group discussions and lectures on genealogy, history and culture. On Saturday afternoon, we took a guided tour of the area where Cassidys originated including a visit to the Cassidy ancestral rath.

On Sunday afternoon, we traveled by boat to Devenish Island for the inauguration of the new Cassidy Clan Chieftain Stephen Cassidy.

On Sunday evening, the rally concluded with our Gala Dinner with good company, food, drink and entertainment including Irish dancers.

Cassidy Clan Executive Committee member Kerry Cassidy has his own website which contains wonderful summaries and photo of past Clan rallies. Kerry has written a summary of the 2025 Cassidy Clan Rally that you can access here.

    1. Hello Beverly
I just saw your comment and noticed that we have no Beverly on the list of registrations for the 2025 Rally.
I hope you can make it. We now have over 70 registartions so it looks like being a great event.

      1. Hi Kerry, just wanted to make sure you had Mike and Nancy Cassidy on your list. Are we?

        1. Hello Michael and Nancy
I’m sorry I just noticed your question now. I am about to print name tags and certificates. I checked the latest list I have and there are three Michael Cassidys one from New York, one from Alabama and one from California, but I don’t see a Nancy.
There are a few people who paid deposits but Stephen does not have the details. If in doubt please contact Stephen on stephen [at] cassidyclan.org Thanks a lot and we look forward to seeing you.
          Kerry Cassidy

        2. Sorry Nancy and Michael
I just noticed that I have the list printed on both sides and Nancy was hiding on the other side. So you are from Alabama. All OK. We have you both.
          Kind regards Kerry

  8. I am a Casedy, a variation I’ve never heard nor seen before. With that being said, my great-grandfather spelled it Cassidy, but it changed to Casedy by the time his son, my grandfather, was out of WWII.
And perhaps it should be noted; all of my children have the curliest hair!

  9. I am from the Casady branch. I have heard the story that our sir name was changed from Cassity to Casady because of a suspected horse thief in the Cassity branch. Probably not true.

  10. I am Tim Cassidy best I know my part of the family came to Canada in th1830s. My wife and I are interested in attending the event and bringing along her sister and husband. My wife’s family name is Feeney. Any information would be helpful.

  11. My mother was a Cassidy and I am very interested in learning more about my ancestral family. My mother’s father,Ross Ephraim Cassidy, was born in Kentucky in the late 1800’s and later moved to Oklahoma. After he married, he returned to the midwest for work and lived in Illinois and Kentucky. I currently reside in south-central Illinois. I am also interested in attending the Clan Rally in 2025.

  12. My name is Tannis Curtis and my mother’s maiden name was Cassidy . Her mother , my grandmother , was Sadie Cassidy by marriage to Frank Cassidy both of Winnipeg , Manitoba . He had a printing business there but I don’t know from what part of Ireland he originated as I never met him and by the looks of the old photos of them together it was the early part of the 20th century 1900-1920 when they married . I shall bring the photos with me to the reunion which I shall be happy to attend !! I live in Vernon , B.C. and my address is B12 12069 Westside Road. V1H2A5 . Thank you !!

    1. Hi Tannis, My Dad, Oswald T. Cassidy, was born in Winnipeg in 1909 after his Granddad and six sons landed in Montreal around 1900. They moved to Lynn Valley (North Vancouver). Where did your family move to after Winnipeg? I believe that my Granddad was a foreman for the CPR.

  13. I am the CASSITY variation. Was always told the change from D to T was due to alcohol consumption. Any truth to that? Who knows.

I would love to attend the rally. Any other T’s out there? I am in Georgia grew up on the Alabama gulf coast.

    1. My Cassity family was originally from Cassity, West Virginia. I was born in Ashland, Kentucky

  14. I would like to attend with my brother and sister. Our mother was a Cassidy. We live in Florida.

  15. Kia ora, what would be the estimated cost for the Rally? Please. Or can you tell me when this will be up on the site? Thank you.

    1. Thanks for the message. We will post the rally costs next year. We aim to keep the charges as close to the actual costs as possible to encourage maximum participation.

  16. My wife and I will be celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary in Ireland the first 2 weeks in September 2023. I’d love any advice as to where we may celebrate our roots with other Cassidays.

  17. Margie Cassity Bayes here. I’m interested in the next Cassidy Clan reunion. Please and thank you!
