Patriarchs of the Clan

There are many Patriarchs of the Cassidy Clan, going back thousands of years.

This table seeks to identify the Patriarchs of some key Cassidys. Of course, there are many Patriarchs for our members, who have yet to be connected to their Irish ancestors, mainly due to the absence of records in Ireland. However, DNA is slowly enabling us to piece some of this together.

This table is a ‘work in progress’ and is being populated in the following order:

  • Clan Chieftains and Executive Committee (past and present);
  • Known Patriarchs within Y-DNA Haplogroups, from our Y-DNA project;
  • Cassidys buried on Devenish Island;
  • Notable Cassidys;
  • Clan Members.

Of course – there are many other Patriarchs yet to be added. You can view our current list of known Cassidy Patriarchs on Wikitree.

Help us connect Cassidys worldwide – add your lineage now!

Many of these lines are not researched to their full potential – if you have more information please let us know!

Why Wikitree?

We use Wikitree as the key site to record our ancestors, because its free and readily accessible for everyone. It is also a ‘One World Tree’ which means no duplicates – we strive to connect all Cassidys around the world.

For privacy reasons, only deceased Cassidy ancestors are added to Wikitree by the Cassidy Clan project. Living people need to join Wikitree to connect themselves to their lineage. We need your help to populate and grow the connections within the Cassidy tree.

If you need help with Wikitree, or believe there are errors within the documented tree, please contact the Clan Genealogist via the contact form on the left hand side of this page.
